Prerequisites: Basic Norwegian language skills. The course is intended for those who already understand and speak some Norwegian and would like to improve their skills further.

The course covers 10 key themes that both develop your Norwegian language skills and prepare you for the topics and task types you will encounter on the Norwegian Language Test (Norskprøven).
1. Media, Information, and Digital Services
Navigate modern life in Norwegian. Learn to understand and discuss news, social media, public information, and digital services. We focus on reading, critical thinking, and communication skills.

2. Health, Quality of Life, and Healthy Habits
Communicate confidently about health and everyday life. Expand your vocabulary related to health, illness, treatment, nutrition, exercise, and mental well-being. You will practice describing experiences and discussing topics that affect quality of life.

3. Family, Relationships, and Social Networks
Build language skills for people and relationships. Learn to describe family relationships, friendships, traditions, and cultural differences. We work with storytelling, reflection, and exchanging opinions.

4. Housing, Local Communities, and Neighborhood Life. Personal Finance
Talk about the place where you live. Develop the language needed to describe housing, relocation, residential areas, and municipal services. You will learn to compare, explain, and justify your choices and experiences. This theme also includes language related to personal finance, budgeting, consumer choices, and everyday financial decisions.

Understand education and learning in Norway. We work with topics related to kindergarten, school, education, and skills development. Participants learn to discuss learning and future opportunities.

Take an active part in society. Learn how to talk about interests, cultural activities, leisure pursuits, and volunteer work. This theme provides excellent opportunities to practice conversations and discussions.

The language you need to succeed in the workplace. Learn to communicate clearly with colleagues, managers, and customers. We cover meetings, work tasks, collaboration, health and safety (HSE), job applications, professional skills, and future career opportunities.

Understand the society you are part of. We explore democracy, rights, responsibilities, civic participation, environmental issues, and sustainability.

9. Spoken Communication and Argumentation
Become more confident in conversations and discussions. Develop your ability to present viewpoints, justify opinions, and participate actively in discussions. These are essential skills for the B1 level and the oral Norwegian Language Test.

10. Norskprøven B1: Strategies and Exam Preparation
Prepare for test day. Systematic training in reading, listening, writing, and spoken communication. You will become familiar with task types, assessment criteria, and effective strategies for achieving success at the B1 level.

How We Work with Language Across All Topics
Regardless of the topic, we combine vocabulary development, grammar, speaking practice, and digital skills. Each module is based on authentic situations from working life, everyday life, and society, so that you learn Norwegian that you can actually use in real-life situations.
Technology and digitalization are a natural part of the course. You will work with digital tools, online resources, news articles, public services, and various forms of digital communication. This strengthens both your language skills and your digital competence.
Grammar is integrated into every topic and linked to practical language use. We work with sentence structure, verb tenses, prepositions, word order, and text organization, helping you become more confident in both spoken and written Norwegian.
Speaking activities play a central role throughout the course. You will practice conversations, discussions, presentations, reflection tasks, and group collaboration. The goal is to develop fluency, accuracy, and confidence in Norwegian communication while preparing you for the oral component of the Norwegian Language Test (Norskprøven).
In this way, you will develop your language skills holistically and build the competence required to achieve B1-level proficiency and succeed on the Norwegian Language Test (Norskprøven).
How the Course Is Delivered
Tuesdays, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM: In-person sessions in Oslo or Sandvika.
Thursdays, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM: Online sessions via Zoom.
The course is designed to fit around work and other commitments.
You will have the same Norwegian teacher throughout the entire course period, providing continuity and support. Your teacher will also be available to answer questions between sessions.
In-Person Sessions (Tuesdays)
On Tuesdays, the group meets in comfortable learning facilities for face-to-face Norwegian instruction and guided speaking practice led by an experienced Norwegian teacher. This is what sets the course apart from standard online courses.
Our teachers also have extensive experience in guidance and counseling and a strong understanding of the Norwegian labor market.
Online Sessions (Thursdays)
On Thursdays, you join the lessons from home via Zoom. The sessions are practical, relevant, and tailored to the skills you need to develop before taking the Norwegian Language Test (Norskprøven).
Throughout the lessons, you will complete exercises and participate in breakout group activities.
Assignments and Ongoing Assessments
Each module includes exercises and tasks that build your knowledge step by step, helping you steadily develop your Norwegian language skills.
Knowledge Assessments and Course Certificate
Upon completion, you will receive a course certificate signed by an educator and advisor, documenting the modules you have completed and the results of assessments that demonstrate your level in all key language skills:
